It shines upwards, insuring even light distribution and makes it easier to devour books without eye strain. Unlike a smartphone or tablet that has an LCD screen that emits light from behind a layer of film, the H2O has five LED lights on the bottom of the bezel. One of the main benefits of the H2O e-Reader is the ability to enjoy eBooks, graphic novels or newspapers in lowlight conditions or complete darkness. Instead, it is employing Infrared technology from Neonode. The Aura HD and Aura H2O e-readers are not using a capacitive touchscreen display, which means it does not have pinching and zooming capabilities. This allows for faster page turns and the ability to turn pages in a digital book, without the need of constant screen refreshes. Carta Imaging Film offers a 50% improvement in contrast ratio over previous generation of e-Paper displays. The Kobo Aura H2O features a 6.8 inch e-ink Carta touchscreen display with a resolution of 1430×1080. We are hoping to replicate the success of the Aura with the H2O, which is slimmer, lighter and can be used on vacations.” When the Aura first came out we expected that the premium 6.8 inch screen would only account for 2% of our companies sales, and within a few months it captured 25%. We spoke to Kobo CEO Michael Tamblyn in prelude to the formal unveiling and he mentioned that “The H2O follows the same design principles of the Kobo Aura. It was designed to be able be completely submerged in five meters of water, for up to fifty minutes, which finally allows users to safely read in the bath and beach. The brand new Kobo Aura H2O e-Reader is the most complete device the Toronto based company has ever released. They have slowly been evolving their product line to fall in line with the quintessential five B’s of bookselling Bath, Backyard, Bedroom, Bus and Beach. If you want people to use your products, give proper support please.Kobo has an obsession on what constitutes the perfect e-reading experience and they have been feverishly working towards this ideal. should put out a firmware or software update their older Kobos to use Overdrive. Seems like restarting the Kobo after authenticating that device is a crucial step.Īdobe should test out their software and provide clear steps to users before they lose their patience. epub downloaded from Overdrive on a web browser on my Mac, added it to ADE, dragged it over to the Kobo again once reattached, and it worked too. I tried with another checked out book, this time an. and somehow the library book showed up with cover art, and not the blackened cover. Drag it to the Kobo listed in the ADE sidebar Add the downloaded book (.ascm format) to ADEĦ. Restart the Kobo (this seemed to be the missing step for me)ĥ. While Kobo was still attached, remove all previously tried books from ADE, also where the main file is kept on the Mac, remove from the Kobo.Ĥ. What worked for me was after removing authentication on both devices while the Kobo Aura H2O edition 1 was :ġ. Version 3 won't work on a Mac running Big Sur, so you have to use at least v4.5.11 which is buggy. Adobe, if you cannot provide a solution, could you please suggest who would be best for us to contact to get this resolved (is it Kobo? is it Overdrive?).Īdobe has completely dropped the ball on this, and given that tens, perhaps hundreds of thousands of people use ereaders to check out items from their local library with Overdrive, it's ridiculous that a company as rich as Adobe doesn't update their software so that regular folks can simply use their ADE software to sign out books and read them on their Kobos, etc. I would really like to use my Kobo to read Overdrive books. It seems that something needs to be fixed on the software end and not the user end. I've seen many posts on different forums about people having this exact same problem. I have searched for answers and tried things suggested on various forums - restoring to factory settings, using an older version of ADE, reauthorizing the Kobo, making sure the Kobo is completely powered off before trying to download a new book. My Adobe ID is authorized in ADE and I can see that my ID is authorized in the settings on my Kobo. When I try to open it, I get the message in the image. It even looks like the book downloads to the device. I've followed all the steps to get Overdrive books on my Kobo. I have a Kobo Aura and I'm using ADE 4.5. Adding to this thread because I've had a similar problem.
